The Kentucky Nutrition Education Program (KYNEP) encompasses two separate USDA programs: The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed). The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program is designed to reach families of limited resources with young children. SNAP-Ed is designed to reach SNAP recipients or individuals who are eligible for SNAP benefits. Both programs provide nutrition education to low income families and individuals. The goals of both are to teach limited-resource families with young children and SNAP-eligible individuals how to plan nutritious meals on a limited budget, learn safe food handling practices, improve food preparation skills and change behavior as needed to have a healthy lifestyle.  (Source:  Healthy Choices for Every Body Curriculum Overview Guide)
