Nutrition Education Program (NEP)

Nutrition Education Program (NEP)

The UK Cooperative Extension Nutrition Education Program is grant-funded through two USDA programs: the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed). Our goals are to educate people of all ages on topics specific to nutrition, food safety, and physical activity. You can join us for one of our fun classes (see the list below), or you may see us at your local school, encouraging youth to try new foods, read a fun book with us, or be more physically active.

Families in the Kitchen

- Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office

Cooking together as a family can be a fun and healthy activity that fosters better relationships and teaches essential healthy habits, especially for families with children aged four to eight. On the third Wednesday of each month, families can come together to learn about improved nutritional education and discover budget-friendly, healthy meal options. This shared experience not only promotes better eating habits but also strengthens family bonds while maintaining a healthy diet.
